I am an applied mathematics honours student at the University of Cape Town (UCT) who believes that some of the most profound questions we can ask concern who we are and how we came to be here. This has led me to develop a keen interest in the Free Energy Principle, the philosophy of mind and neuroscience, and the broader complexity science community.
During my undergraduate degree in applied mathematics and statistics, I investigated the use of complex network science in studying dynamical systems such as the brain. In my honours year, I hope to focus on the analysis of more general self-organising systems, particularly those that give rise to cognitive artefacts, by leveraging the tools of game theory, mathematical statistics, and differential geometry.
When I’m not thinking about that, I’m usually trying to fix my Linux distribution or advocating for plant-based diets.
